Rikei Begins Selling Nomadix’s EG 1000 Internet Gateway for Small- and Medium-sized Accommodation Facilities and Coworking Spaces

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce that it has begun selling the EG 1000, a new product for small- and medium-sized accommodation facilities and coworking spaces (*1) from Nomadix Inc. (Head Office: Woodland Hills, California, USA; Chairman & CEO : Ted Helvey).

*1 Coworking space : Shared office environment for persons who can freely choose where to work, such as, telecommuters and self-employed persons.

Overview of new product

The EG 1000 of Nomadix Inc. is a high-performance internet gateway (*2) for small- and medium-sized accommodation facilities and coworking spaces that supports from 100 to 1,000 devices. DAT (dynamic address translation), which is a Nomadix Inc. patented technology, allows users to connect to the internet from any device without having to change settings at all. It has the flexibility of allowing expansion of bandwidth (transmission speed) and number of devices, is high secure by supporting cyberattack countermeasures, and can also help cut operational costs since it is very easy to navigate for administrators.

*2 Internet gateway : Device that facilitates mutual transmission via a different network when connecting to the internet

Features

・Supports small- and medium-sized facilities
The EG 1000 can support between 100 and 1,000 devices. It is suited for internet connections at a variety of facilities, such as coworking spaces/shared offices, retirement homes, business hotels, and hospitals.

・Advanced security
To prevent illicit internet access, the EG 1000 supports multiple authentication methods, including property management systems (PMS) (*3) and RADIUS (*4). This allows it to realize more advanced security.
Moreover, it can support 802.1Q VLAN (*5) tags and allows you to set authentication and bandwidth limits for each VLAN tag, which enables a variety of uses that suit client needs.

・High durability and reliability
It does not contain any HDDs, which have a high failure rate, but uses high-performance flash disks (*6). The hardware design does not break easily.

*3 Property management system (PMS) : Management system mainly suited for businesses that involve asset management, such as managing hotel bookings.

*4 RADIUS : A kind of user authentication protocol for networks.

*5 802.1Q VLAN : One standard of VLAN (virtual LAN).

*6 Flash disk : Disk device that uses flash memory to gain the storage medium properties of both ROM, which retains memory even if the power supply is cut, and RAM, which allows data overwriting.

Background of the market

Remote work has become common in recent times with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, so there is a growing demand for business hotels and coworking spaces/shared offices that offer comfortable teleworking environments. As such, these facilities cannot do without an internet environment that is both flexible and highly secure.

Future development

We are selling this product to business hotels, coworking spaces, and other facilities that enable remote work as well as small- and medium-sized accommodation facilities.
