Rikei starts to sell Signal Cancellation Appliance “SigX”,  that Mitigates Radio-Frequency Interference

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce that it has begun selling of SigX, a signal cancellation appliance which mitigates radio frequency interference.

Product Overview

This product is a signal cancellation appliance designed to prevent reception difficulty of satellite reception equipment due to interference signal. When a signal interferes with the reception frequency band of the desired signal (*1), normal reception becomes difficult and it affect to the service.

By using “SigX”, interfering signal when receiving a desired signal can be removed with a high-level signal removal algorithm, and it allows to continue providing high quality of service.

※1 desired signal: reception signal required by the receiver

Market background

One of the most common forms of Radio Frequency Interference is unmodulated carrier signals including CW (Continuous Wave) and Sweeping CW caused by mis-aligned antennas, malfunctioning equipment and accidental and deliberate transmissions. Traditional approaches to resolving this type of interference requires identifying the source and then stop the effects. “SigX” offers a completely new approach to resolving an influence of interference signal without the reliance on the interfering party. The appliance removes interference signal in real-time and protect the service.

There is also another version that supports modulated signal radiated incorrectly from a mobile radio station that is increasingly being used recently.

In addition to interference from satellite, there are concerns that some of the 4G (LTE) already deployed, and the next-generation mobile communications standard 5G scheduled to be launched in 2020 may affect satellite reception facilities that receive the C-Band. SigX is scheduled to be equipped with a function that mitigates terrestrial interference signals within fiscal 2018, and it makes possible to remove a risk of 4G and 5G signals interfere the C-Band

Product specifications (CW model, modulation signal model)

  1. Frequency band: L-Band (950-2150MHz)
  2. Carrier types that can be removed: unmodulated signal (CW/Sweeping CW)

modulated signal (DVB-S2 CCM/ACM)

  1. Modulation method: BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, 8PSK, 16 APSK *32APSK scheduled to be supported by the end of 2018
  2. Bandwidth: 1.2 MHz ~ 54 MHz

Up to 4 of CW or Sweeping CW can be removed simultaneously with 1 unit

1 modulated signal can be removed with 1 unit (*license required)

*To remove CW and modulated signal simultaneously, two units of SigX need to be cascade-connected

  1. Easy setting and monitoring by Web GUI Operation
