Rikei Concludes a Distributor Agreement with Artiza Networks, Inc. and Starts to Sell “Video Stream Combiner,” which Resolves Packet Loss and Major Communication Delays on IP Network Paths

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka) is pleased to announce that it has concluded a new distributor agreement with Artiza Networks, Inc. (Head Office: Tachikawa-shi, Tokyo; President & CEO: Takashi Tokonami) and started to sell new network switch “Video Stream Combiner.”

Market situation

With the expansion of IP networks in recent years, besides the traditional DVB-ASI (*1) transmission system, digital video distribution has expanded into IP protocol transmission.

Artiza Networks, Inc., with whom Rikei has concluded a distributor agreement, develops and sells transmission measurement devices used for building communication infrastructure as well as network management systems for performing maintenance and operations management of communication infrastructure.

“Video Stream Combiner,” which Rikei has begun selling, detects packet loss and major delays when distributing content on IP networks and then switches to another path to ensure stable content distribution.

*1 DVB-ASI: The transmission standard defined by DVB (Digital Video Broadcast). DVB-ASI is used when connecting video distribution devices in cable, satellite, or terrestrial broadcast facilities.

Product overview

“Video Stream Combiner” monitors IP packets distributed over different transmission paths and switches paths without interruption when packet loss or a major delay occurs in one such path. In the unlikely event that a device failure occurs, network communication is ensured by means of the bypass feature.

Features

  • Monitors the RTP (*2) sequence number and maintains continuity.
  • Two-second maximum seamless buffer; corrects differences due to transmission delays.
  • Supports VLAN (optional).

*2 RTP: Real-time Transport Protocol. RTP is a data communication protocol for delivering voice and video data streams in real time.
