Rikei Concluded Distributorship Agreement with MTI-Milliren Technologies for Sale of “Cesium Atomic Clock” (Cesium Oscillators) for Military and Airborne Applications
Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Tetsuo Kuroda, hereinafter called “Rikei”) would like to announce that it has started to sell the new product “Cesium Atomic Clock” manufactured by MTI-Milliren Technologies, Inc., (Head Office: USA, President: Bryan T Milliren, hereinafter called “MTI”).
This new product “Cesium Atomic Clock” introduced by MTI combines cesium atomic clock performance with MTI’s patented DOCXO
(*1),(*2)
in a small package, capable of operating in high acceleration environments. It is designed mainly for use in receivers and demodulators installed on satellites and aircrafts. This device is capable of obtaining the most accurate time without being affected by external conditions, providing air vehicles with precise location information. Further, it is also designed to stably operate in high acceleration and vibration airborne environments at any operating temperature.
By combing cesium atomic clock performance with DOCXO, considerably high frequency stability can be achieved compared to DOCXO or rubidium oscillators and very low phase noise
(*3)
can also be maintained even in rugged environments.
* 1 DOCXO: Double Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator
* 2 Oscillator: A circuit that produces an alternating output current of a certain frequency, enabling digital devices to work, irrespective of the consumer or industry application.
* 3 Phase noise: Undesired energy generated near the output frequency of an oscillator. Phase noise may lead to a system error and is considered as an important characteristic.
Features
- Highly accurate frequency (typically 5 x 10 -11 /day)
- Maintaining very low phase noise even in rugged environments
- Capable of locking to an external frequency reference or GPS
- Power consumption is less than 16W at -40℃
- Warm-up of less than 9 minutes at -40℃ to an accuracy of 4×10 -10 (reference time 30 minutes)
- RS-422 interface providing monitoring and control
- Airflow for heat dissipation
- Designed to withstand low pressure environments such as high altitudes
- Various options available according to customers’ requirements
Future Plan
With sales targets of 10 units for the first year and 30 units for the subsequent year, we will aggressively promote and sell MTI oscillators for various applications, including for use in high-vibration military, airborne, and shipboard environments as well as satellite/gourd communication systems and other communication equipment.
* Product names and company names mentioned herein are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective companies.
