Rikei Concluded a Reseller Agreement with Unlimi-Tech Software Inc., for Sale of Accelerated File Transfer Solution “FileCatalyst”
Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tetsuo Kuroda) would like to announce that it has concluded a reseller agreement with Unlimi-Tech Software Inc., (Head Office: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; CEO: Chris Bailey; hereafter “Unlimi-Tech”) and started selling accelerated file transfer solution “FileCatalyst.”
With the rise of high-definition (HD) video, full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) video content is becoming more and more common. In 2014, 4k (3840 x 2160 pixels) TV broadcasting is expected to be launched, requiring the sending of massive amounts of video data. In the manufacturing industry, the trend has shifted from 2D design to 3D design and the size of design data is thus increasing significantly. The amount of data that organizations need to manage is expected to grow continuously, posing a challenge on how to transfer huge amounts of data effectively and efficiently to a remote site.
Our new partner Unlimi-Tech has well established itself as the creator of “UnlimitedFTP,” a Java applet *1 for FTP (File Transfer Protocol) transfers widely used in media, broadcasting, manufacturing, and other industries.
Unlimi-Tech’s FileCatalyst is a UDP *2 -based accelerated file transfer software solution equipped with a variety of scheduling and administration features. It enables quick transfers of gigabyte-size files, reducing transfer time significantly. FileCatalyst is very well received and adopted by various organizations, such as public broadcasters, research institutions, telecommunications carriers, and game developers.
With “FileCatalyst,” the Netherlands’ public broadcaster VPRO succeeded in transferring H.264 HD video data from a sailing ship to its facilities over satellite. When VPRO was using another traditional software solution, the latency observed was from 600 milliseconds to a maximum of 3,000 milliseconds due to an unstable satellite link and the file transfer rate was only 70 kbps, which was nearly thirtieth of 2 Mbps that VPRO was supposed to have. On the other hand, as soon as VPRO started using FileCatalyst, they saw that FileCatalys used almost full 2 Mbps bandwidth with being immune to latency and transferred large amounts of video data quickly and successfully even under extreme conditions.

- Transfer rate of up to 10 Gbps
- Data compression (WinZip, Gzip) simultaneously with UDP-based accelerated file transfer
- “Delta file transfer,” allowing you to send only the difference between revisions of the same file
- Fast file transfers using multiplexed TCP sessions are also available when the UDP protocol cannot be used
- Scheduling feature, allowing you to set schedules such as a timeframe, speed, day of the week, date, and time of file upload/download
- Prohibited actions configurable for each client (file upload/download, overwriting, deletion, download/upload rates, data transfer amount, etc.)
- Remote monitoring from other computers as well as email alerts sent when the transfer succeeds and fails
- Auto-resume *3 , MD5 checksum *4 , AES *5 encryption, and other features
Future Plans
We will devote ourselves to distributing FileCatalyst to wide-ranging organizations including satellite communications companies, broadcasters, carriers, manufacturers, and game developers and will continuously contribute to improving productivity.
