Rikei Concludes Domestic Sole Sales Agency Agreement with Triphase NV - Launch of sales of power conversion simulators for educational institutions and the power generation industry

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka, hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce that it has concluded a domestic sole sales agency agreement with Triphase NV (Head Office, Belgium; CEO: Ir. Jan Van Roy) and is launching the sale of the power conversion simulators “Triphase Kits” and “Triphase PMx” for educational institutions and the power generation industry.

New Product Overview

The “Triphase Kits” and the “Triphase PMx” are hardware for conducting the prototyping of power conversion control methods and actual machine verification. In addition, “Triphase PMx” can conduct Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) testing in cooperation with a digital simulator.

The “Triphase Kits” offer the optimal equipment for learning the power conversion system, supporting diverse levels from experiments by students to professional research. The product makes it possible to configure practical experiments with real-time control in a hands-on and flexible manner through the combined use of modular-type control units, inverters, filters, and voltage and electric current sensors.

It also enables the performance of design using Matlab/Simulink, which is a standard product for control system design and electric and equipment development.

The “Triphase PMx” supports large-scale experiments and full-fledged verification tests in the fields of electric vehicles, interconnection with renewable energy, and micro grids. It can be used together with real-time simulators by Opal-RT Technologies and RTDS Technologies.

It is most suitable as a research and development tool for new systems that achieve power supply through efficient and stable renewable energy (systems in which solar and wind power generation and storage facilities and electric vehicles are interconnected and work together intelligently).

Features

  • Design development and test operation possible with user PCs
  • Flexible support for various applications such as motor drives, system interconnection, power storage facilities, power quality retention and evaluation, and power converters
  • Consistent execution from software development to the implementation of tests and measurement with Matlab/Simulink
  • Assembling hardware/software components just like blocks, and learning and conducting tests
  • Easy connection with real-time simulators by Opal-RT Technologies and RTDS Technologies

Market Background

The introduction of renewable energy has been advancing on a large scale to reduce CO 2 around the world. Japan also established a national policy for increasing the ratio of renewable energy in the power supply makeup to 24% by 2030. Following these major trends, the Japanese power generation industry needs to supply power using renewable energy more efficiently and stably.

In the meantime, the power supply volume of renewable energy, such as solar power and wind power, varies significantly depending on the weather, and there are multiple issues involved in introducing a large amount of power by renewable energy. In order to resolve these issues, it is essential to develop new power systems for interconnecting power generation and storage facilities using renewable energy and electric vehicles, and facilitating smart collaboration. To this end, it is indispensable to develop an innovative control method of inverters for power conversion. Rikei will sell the “Triphase Kits” and the “Triphase PMx” to facilitate this development.

Future Developments

Rikei will promote the deployment of facilities for training practice on power conversion and power equipment control, a wide range of research applications for students, the launch of the research and development environment at the laboratory level and similar for educational institutions and researchers.
