Achieve a Secure Teleworking Environment Easily and Quickly Rikei Starts to Sell “Wi-Fi Package of Aruba Remote AP (RAP)” by Aruba Networks Enabling Enterprise-like Connectivity From Home

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”), is pleased to announce that it starts to sell “Wi-Fi package of Aruba Remote AP (RAP)”, a simple teleworking construction system developed by Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (Head Office: Sunnyvale, California <Japan: Koto-ku, Tokyo>; President & Founder, Keerti Melkote).

Background of the market

Although the introduction of teleworking such as WFH and satellite offices has been progressed as a result of working style reforms recently, it has been rapidly expanding as an initiative to ensure employee safety and business continuity, in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

When doing WFH, most of employees bring their business PCs home and use internet VPN (*1) to connect to their company’s network to carry out their work. However, it is also true that this method has the disadvantage of security problems such as management of account IDs and passwords for VPN connections, and that some services and applications cannot be used via internet VPN. With IP-VPN (*2) that does not have the disadvantages, it is necessary to bear the cost of a new line contract with a carrier and install a dedicated software on PCs.

(*1) VPN: Virtual Private Network. A technology that establishes a virtual private network (leased line) on the Internet and exchanges data using a secure route.

(*2) IP-VPN: IP Virtual Private Network. A communication technology that uses a closed IP (Internet Protocol) network of a telecommunications carrier such as a provider to connect offices/homes. A closed network that is available only to those who have contracted with a carrier.

Overview of the new product

With Aruba Remote API (RAP), the intracompany network environment can be easily realized just by connecting a controller to the company’s network and inserting a pre-set wireless access point into an internet port at home etc.

Rikei has packaged one controller and 16 small wireless APs in one in order to make teleworking a reality for our customers as quickly as possible. In addition, Rikei provides a special price package tuned to a customer’s network environment in advance.

Features

  • Enables access to the intracompany network environment (with the same SSID/authentication/access control) at remote working places such as an employee’s home or a branch office
  • All you have to do is to insert the pre-set access point into the Internet communication port.
  • World-renowned high-level security
  • One controller (including license) and 16 small wireless APs are included

Future development

Rikei will expand the sales of the product to small and medium-sized enterprises, municipalities, and schools, and so on that are considering introduction of teleworking, as well as to companies that require the intracompany network environment regardless of a location.

In addition, Rikei has prepared a package of virtual desktop services as a solution for telecommuting, and plans to announce and start sales after this month.
